who do you use, link to your site and why you use them. I may be looking into changing site host

Morgan Systems Small business but great service. And can't beat $10/month for hosting with email!

I've used HostGator for a few years. They're one of the bigger hosts, but with great, fast tech support, and very little downtime. I pay $10/month and serve about 2 million hits a month!

Me too, they are a great host.

Hostgator here as well.

1and1.com

Word of advice, stay away from 1and1.com and web.com - two worst hosting companies in existence.

I recommend lunarpages.com, liquidweb.com and rackspace.com

A bit of of background, I am a web developer and I've used most larger web hosting companies over the years (since about 1998). I have hundreds of clients on a variety of hosting platforms. Web.com and 1and1.com have held clients sites hostage, had countless downtime and their support for anything other than basic trivial items, is non-existent and 90% of the time their support is nothing more than a placebo to get you off the phone. They will "open a ticket" and then "escalate to an admin". That's all you will ever get from them in the way of an answer. They won't tell you anything else, because they can't. Their support is entirely in India and they do nothing but read from scripts.

You want a hosting company where your support call goes to someone who not only speaks english clearly, but they are also a technical person and not reading from a script.

The companies I recommended have excellent support staff(usually voted the best in the industry), and you will always get a human on the phone, that is an admin level tech support and that is physically in the building where your server is located (not on the other side of the world like 1and1 or Web.com).

These companies are more expensive but the adage of you get what you pay for, is never truer than it is in web hosting.

Before I moved to smugmug, I had hostgator.

MEDIA TEMPLE... If you want something reliable and good with customer support in UNITED STATES where people understand you, clearly and effectively i.e. and you understand them. Where every phone call is documented and emailed to you after the call is done... Yaaa thats all I got to say. If you need more help PM.

$20 bucks a month for a Grid Server is peanuts. Thats 3 times eating at burger king.
$50 bucks a month for a Dedicated Server. Cut out the donuts on a monthly basis, and look at that you've got Media Temple. Call them 24-7 and they will be there.Try calling your bank past 5 pm, you might end up having to hang up and call back the next day when you understand what you're being asked

you are right...but the way I see it (which is different of course I realize that) if people are able to pick up some delicious glass and they are in the 40Ds,50Ds,7Ds, 5Ds, 1Ds, Cam ranges, then whats a $20 a month to them ? You see what I mean...

However, if someone is looking for free hosting. I know a badass website for freebies. No phone support, email will be replied probably when you lose all of your hair on your head,oh and incase you dont login into your control panels once a month, they will delete your site,but still its free.

Ditto HostGator, US support (Houston). I don't think they email you if you call them, i've never tried, but their support replies to emails within a few minutes 24/7.
