My 50L seems to be the go to lens now. Still have the Sigma 24-70 but more often than not the images look soft.

Canon EOS 5DMkII, 50 f/1.2L, 70-200 f/2.8L IS USM, Sigma 24-70 f/2.8 EX HSM, Manfrotto 190CXPro3 with 488RC2 Ball Head. Wife: Canon EOS 50D, EF 28-135 f/3.5-5.6 IS

85mm 1.2 , hands down the lens that stays on the camera most of the time if not all the time

I have the II now but I don't see any significant difference with the previous one (mark I) that I had before. So the version doesn't really matter.

The 24-105L would have to be the best allrounder on the 5DMKII, which I tend to have attached in my camera bag - best option to grab in a hurry.

5D MKII - Accumulating way too much gear - bring on retirement so I have time to use it.......

I've had the 15-85 for a few weeks and it has graced the front of my camera more than any other, but before that it was the 24-105. Soon, I am going to switch back and then decide which one I truly like the most for general use.

The wide angle is great, but I find myself switching to the 50mm prime more often now since I have an f/5 rather than f/4 at this focal length. On the long end, I am switching a bit more often to telephoto, but there isn't a big difference between 85 and 105 in reality.

For travel, or just going to outdoor locations with no particular shoot in mind, the Tamron 18-270 is the lens I take. It will probably remain in this role and be in at least second place after I decide whether to leave the 15-85 or 24-105 in place most of the time.

This is a great thread -- The one real surprise is how many folks answered with fairly long lenses, and only one with a wide-angle.

2 cams here now and it depends on which one's with me.

When carried individually, they will quite often have the unit's own kit lens;
the EF-S 15-85mm f3.5-5.6 USM IS on the one,
and the EF 24-105 L F4 IS on the other.
Either of which can achieve some decent 1:1 & greater macro with the addition of a set of tubes & a TC-
or even better with a reversed 50mm.

When carried together, one will often have it's kit lens & the other has a specialty lens; my big Sig zoom or 100L / MPe-65 macro rig). ;)

My PhotoCenter :D :
Gripped 12DD2 ;)/5 bits of glass/dual triple tubes/Sig TCs,
2-580EXIIs/Manfrotto 055CXPRO3 with 3 heads/Cool-lights/Soft box/reflectors/ExpoDisc & filters galore/Epson R1900+CISS/Now CS5 powered! :p

My 50mm 1.8 is pretty much almost always mounted and ready to go.

bannedPermanent ban

Both Canon:
50D: 85mm f/1.8 USM
400D: 55-250mm f/4-5.6 and 50mm f/1.8
Though I do swap the 55-250mm over to the 50D occasionally, though I don't need to have the 85mm on the 400D
