Please tell what lens when you are able, especially number 7. I rented the 70-200 2.8 l II this weekend and was looking for the sharpness and bokeh of this. Did you use a tripod?

I believe Matt used a 400 f/2.8 on the MK3.

Fantastic! Minor League Little League. Doesn't get any better in terms of effort from the little guys. Beautiful shots.

And yeah, the 400 f/2.8 on a 1Diii would be a glorious rig for any sport!

I do have the 70-200 but it is usually on my second camera

Sharpness you may find with the 70-200 II but the DOF you wont. These are pretty close to full frame and the focal length has a lot to do with DOF.

NEVER a tripod for sports... I do use a monopod and typically am sitting or kneeling.

Fantastic. Focus is amazing, especially for such shallow DOF.

Thanks Jay and jsv photo.... the DOF is thin but more than you expect. I love the 400 for destroying the crappy backgrounds I typically have to deal with. Well that and wicked fast focus, amazing color, great contrast and sharpness. :D

Really wonderful stuff. I'm a total sucker for pics of the little kids and when they are done as nicely as these----It's just great.
