Are you also planning to put all your filters in with their packaging too? You can save more space if you stack your filters together or by getting a filter holder (like a Lowepro Street & Field filter pocket).

ninhja Senior Member 867 posts Likes: 6 Joined Nov 2009 Location: Southern California More info | Jun 03, 2010 03:16 | #6 I own a 5MDH also, with a 40D (without grip), 17-40mm and 50mm and things seem to fit snug when the hoods are attached reversed, most likely due to the extra added length to the diameter to the lens. I have an EW-83J (hood for the 17-55) attached on my 17-40 which is pretty large. I think this bag is great, but I may just be inefficient in how I place my things in the bag. All in all, I recommend perhaps looking at the 6MDH. It is larger by a pretty strong margin, but looking as you're planning to upgrade to the 70-200, and whatever future lenses you're planning to buy in the near future, the 6MDH will give you the opportunity to grow into the bag rather than grow out of the bag (5MDH).
