Thought it would be a cool idea to post it here for any lighting newbies, and well for the veterans out there any comments or critique would be appreciated.

Last night I was hanging out with a friend of mine, and we decided to stop by this old dock with a beautiful abandoned boathouse, hadn't planned on taking any pictures.

However I did have my New Canon S90 on me, which somehow found its way out of my pocket and started taking pictures.

Started out with longer exposures, then adding in elements of light painting, and well before I knew it I had an amazing image in my head...and ran back to the car to get the rest of the gear.

At this point, I went to the car and grabbed my 5D II

5d II, 17-40 f4L 8 second exposure, flashlight painting subject and building. (gelled green)

At this point, decided it was time for a few flashes to come out and play, my 580 was at home, so just had the two 430 exII's

Canon 5d Mark II, 430 EX II at 1/2 power in Wescott 28" Softbox moved to camera right, (as seen in photograph) 430 EXII at 1/64power behind Nate gelled Pink. 3.2 Seconds exposure.

At this point, I decided to drop the flashlight and go to 1/200th of a second to kill the ambient.

Then again at 1/320 to really kill the ambient (note the Black Stripe, which would of been cropped out of the final image)

And then the Final Product!!!

I've shot there. That's behind Gold Star Battalion Park & Beach. Lots of cool spots to shoot around that structure and on the beach.

Unfortunately it's a bit of a pain to get to with a hand truck full of gear. :D

Great step by step. It's always nice when you have an idea in your head and you can work it out to an awesome finished product. Sadly I have trouble being able to do that LOL
