I ordered "B+W 77mm MRC UV BRASS Filter F-PRO Multi-Coated # 70252" from MaxSaver and got it today.

I kind of thought the filter would be more goldish... as that is how I know brass! :)

Anyways, just want to confirm I got the right one!

Inside engraving says:
"B+W 77mm 010 UV-Haze MRC"

Box says: "77 MRC XSP 010M UV-HAZE FILTER 1058460"

No mention of brass anywhere... any confirmations?

Brass itself is not visible...the black anodizing/paint applied to the exterior covers it fully...but brass filters are quite hefty compared to aluminum alloy filters.

As wilt said, you should be able to tell by the weight. The Brass ones are a fair bit heavier. You may also be able to see the brass on the threads after a bit of use.

don't worry,like was said,it's anodized,top quality filters like that are advertised as being made of brass because it's a good material.

it should look like this

if you want it to look like brass ,then it will look like this

it would just be wrong for a brass colored ring to be screwed on the end of a black lens,besides,you would need brass polish to keep it looking good ! LOL

You may say that, but B&W make a 'Gold' edition of their UV filters;

Is maxsaver a reputable company? Their prices are pretty low compared to places like B&H and shipped from HK, so I am a little weary. Any thoughts?

Maxsaver is very reputable.

I have ordered plenty from them and all have been legit, real products (compared to ones I bought from adorama and B&H). No worries. Plenty buy from there here.

Kaitlyn it sounds like you got a filter with a brass ring. The brass ring filters have the labeling on the inside of the front rim and you need to look straight-on at the filter to read it. The alloy filters have the labeling on the outside edge of the filter ring like most other manufacturers. Since you talk about "inside engraving" it sounds like you have brass. :) MaxSaver is a good seller, BTW.

Thanks, I just put in a order for a B+W 77mm filter!
