Where do I rent a good video camera? My friend just got his pilot license and we want to record from the plane view. Id like to use a good camera that has a good zoom range

Can something like this be rented somewhere??

I would strongly, strongly urge you to NOT try any in-cockpit activity that could be a potential distraction for a newly minted pilot. Let him get some time under his belt before you start dragging extra gear on board.

If you really want to do something nice for your buddy, go fly with him and split the costs as allowed by the FAA (assuming you're in the USofA.)

Above everything else, you should be an extra set of eyes looking outside and scanning for other traffic.

^ That sounds like good advice.

But if you ever do it in the future, and you're in the states then Zacuto.com have a very good lineup of gear.

You'd struggle to use a Zacuto rig (even just grips and rails) in the front right-hand seat of a light-single aircraft. This would be one of the few times I suggest going with the "geeky" P&S method of shooting.

But again, if you're up front, you should be head up and helping the pilot watch for traffic and not "heads down" in a photographic device.

This is true most of their rigs are pretty big. But maybe just take a Panasonic EX1 if they have one, or a Canon XL. Pretty small but good range.
