Hi Everyone,

Just recently noticed that it seems that my safety shift function doesnt work in Av mode, but it does in Tv.
In other words when I am setting the aperture manually in Av mode, it supposed to change automatically if my safety shift is enabled, in case I havebt set the f-stop correctly and the image is going to be over/under-exposed.

It works in Tv mode, if the shutter speed is set wrongly, the camera overrides it automatically to get the correct exposure. So I am expecting the same thing to happen in Av..
Does anyone know how else can I check it other than setting a wrong aperture and seeing if camera tries to correct it?

Set ISO to 3200, fast max. aperture (e.g. f/2.0) depending on lens used, and try to take picture outdoor in bright sunlight. The camera will set shutter to 1/8000s and safety shift should close aperture to achieve the correct exposure (e.g. f/5.6).

Safety Shift doesn't work the same in the two modes, because there is a wide range of possible shutter speeds but the average lens has only 8 - 10 f-stops. This means that in Tv the automation can hit the limit of possible apertures much more quickly than in Av where it can go all the way up to 1/8000 or down to 30 seconds before it has to invoke Safety Shift.
