Ever since I got the 7D my 400L/5.6 seems inadequately small. It used to feel hefty and big.

Has anything like this happened to anyone else before?

(No I can't justify buying a 500/4 using this feeling ;) )

We all know the only cure to this is a 1200L.

Nah mate that focal length does nothing for me (EDIT: on a crop and putting it on a 1D would make it small again lol). And when I'm in it i use the 90mm Macro. I'm sad to say that I have used the 70-200 once in the last two years :(

Cause I'm not desperate for a couple of hundred bucks. Besides I'm trying to get the wife into some photography and she may want to use it???

EDIT: and being a physicsist I'm kind into optics and could never sell any of it lol.

Yes it is kinda small for its reach - and that's a good thing. Small and compact means it is easier to have with you when you need it.

I agree 100% since I've had it for 5+ years. It's bloody fantastic :) It's just the feeling I first had compared to now it's so different.

You know It could also be partly due to me carrying a 12 kg (27 lb) package all the time. That would be the 11 month old........

Maybe I'll be buff enough soon to handhold shooting birds with the 600mm lol
