I have a Nikon SB80 that I use in manual mode with my Canon Speedlite.
The other day I was wondering if the FlexTT5 would fire it from the hot shoe.
Sure enough it works. It fires without a problem up to about 1/250 on a Canon 5D2.
I haven't fiddled with the offset timing to see if that can be improved.
Naturally its manual but that was always the case.

Main benefit is that these speedlights are available for a reasonable price used and there are external battery packs available to shorten recycle and number of flashes. Nice complement to the Canon Speedlites for more complex lighting scenarios.

Interesting to know. Expensive triggers, cheap flash. ;)

Since I have the triggers I just wanted to know if they would work with the SB, rather than having another "price appropriate" trigger for the SB. :-)

I started with the SB when I was using RF-602s for off camera triggers with 580EXs.
