Neither did I till I ordered one for my Calumet Genesis. Then thought.... hmmmmm...... that looks like 7mm to the break.

I wish they advertised them as such, I would have bought them ages ago. Now have a collection of 7 Calumet umbrellas!

Is the shaft supposed to be able to pass through the head and come through the other end? I have the Genesis umbrella and it stops about mid-way.

Yes, it stops at the break (the place where the two shafts screw together).

But that is more than far enough 'in' for an umbrella using a wide angle umbrella reflector from Elinchrom.

Bumping this thread as I have some group shots Im going to be doing in a month or two and Im thinking of going the umbrella route to light them. Ill be using a couple Elinchrom 600RX units. Whats the best options out there these days folks?
