Hey guys,

Just like to introduce myself as a new member of this community. I've been shooting for about 6 months and based out of Seattle, Washington. I started off with a Canon XSi and then T1i when I was shooting for fun and then later went to a Nikon D700 and started building up my gears on the Nikon side. I never really connected with Nikon users because I couldn't find a good enough forum and when I decided to go back to Canon, I found this forum and I'm pretty happy that I did.

Some info:

Fashion focused but also loves lifestyle and commercial photographer
Started off shooting cars (I'm a moderator on www.my350z.com (external link))
UW graduate and MBA graduate student at Seattle University
Loves all things photographic and meeting people who shares this passion!

I'd love to continue learning from you guys and hope to make new friends here :) All the best!

PS Not sure what the rules are about posting portfolio site but you can check out my work at www.alvinnguyen.com (external link) (Mods, I can remove the link if it violate the forum's policy)

Hi, welcome.

Self-introductory posts are not custom here, at least AFAIK.

People usually have their portfolios in their signatures (which, for the most part, are pretty bloated. Signed: Jonta the minimalist).

There's such a wide variety of photographers here, that you won't have a lot of trouble fitting in.

I can be percieved as not being very friendly, but almost everyone else is.

Have fun, shoot ducks, do a barrelroll
Jonta

Jonta - thank you, you don't seem so bad :D lol I am custom to automotive forums where people usually give an intro. I guess you can call me a newb in photography forums. I have never posted on one before :D

Robert - Haha no, sorry if I was being confusing. I meant to say that I couldn't find a good Nikon forum to connect with the users. I actually love my Nikons. I switched because I just need video and more megapixels. I was waiting for them to come out with something to replace the D700 but I have a few personal projects in July and I couldn't wait any longer. I will definitely miss the ergonomics and AF system. I realize though that no camera is perfect and you give some to get some.

Untrue. This varies between individual forums.

Ptheh. If using two camerasystems is what floats your boat, go for it. Only the stupid people care about what systems other people, that they don't know, who are on the internet, use. (For the absolute majority. What I'm saying: Canonians who bash Nikon are silly. It's also a great system. People who defend large companies actually defend their own purchase-decisions. That's what I think anyway.)

ill admit, the nikon forums PALE in comparison to POTN... and yeah, i think if you need video and MP, then canon is probably the way to go... personally i wanted a killer af system for full frame without going for a 1d... ended up falling in love with the ergos and buttons of nikons but still come here to check out the canon side of things as its still an awesome photography community at heart.

Not true. Lots of them tend to go into the Forum Talkarea but who cares!

hey Alvin. Welcome to POTN. I too started with XSI and now have D700. I still hang around here and love this forum. I tried Nikon****ns but the black bg hurts my eyes and not as well lay out as this one. So much inspiration on the photo sharing section, you should check it out. Cameras are just tools anyway.

edit: btw. don't know if you've seen this yet but 12mp prints this size http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2-z-9te6y4k (external link)
