Some shots from last night's playoff baseball game. Another game on Thursday.

All shot with the 20d, Sigma 70-200mm 2.8 iso 400-800.

Let me know what you think.

Scott

Great work, I would try shooting faster 1250 -1600 to stop the ball and bat blur.

I would crop 2, 3, and 4 above the knees.

I am shooting qat iso 800 and I don't want to blow the exposure by going too high or too low one way or the other.

And I am exposing for the faces. That is where my focus is when I am shooting.

I'll play a little tomorrow night. But I am shooting late evening games. Making it tough for me to get a high SS with the 20d and either the 100-300 f4 or the 70-200 2.8.

I'll give it a go though and see what I can get. God I want a 7d or a Mk IV would be even better.

That age is playing playoffs already? It's not even summer yet!

Yeah, they are playing double elimination at that. It is June and in the northeast of the US, playoffs are in June because then you have all-stars that run through end of June and July and sometimes August and tournament teams and what not.

Nice, very nice. I really like the cropping - gives the shots impact.

I'm insanely jealous of you -- you're either closer to the batters than I am or cropping more heavy than I am. Also, you guys don't have to use face masks, all the batters in the LL Major's in our division or whatever do. Terrible shots of the kids' faces because of this.

I like the crops a lot! Fantastic!

I have field access and usually stand by 1st base or 3rd base. Mostly by first as most kids are righties. And I can get most plays in the field this way. I can't get too many outfield shots because most plays are in the infield and my glass is not long enough and I don't have 2 bodies. Maybe after the season if I sell enough I can get a new body and designate the 20d as backup.

These are all cropped pretty well. Tomorrow I am shooting 2 games by myself. Normally I am doing one game a night and I have my three boys with me. Most parents know me and the boys, my oldest plays and they keep an eye on the boys while I am shooting if they are all with me.

I shoot for the league my son plays in and I am doing 3-4 games a week plus my day job. So I am always post processing. Thank heaven's LR makes cataloging and PP easier.

And batch processing in PS for the high iso I shoot at makes life so much easier.

I was at a field last night where I essentially had field access -- within a limit... the field has no fences about 10 ft past first base. I was standing RIGHT there and had a foot 6" or so inside the playing field. Made getting shots SO much nicer!

I might have to pick your brain about using LR a little more effectively for this kind of work.
