Hi guys,

I found this LP-E6 replacement.
http://www.bestbatt.com …s.asp?ProductCode=BBLPE6N (external link)

They claim it is

  • Intelligent battery (show power level on camera LCD)
  • 100% compatible with Canon original charger
The price is $36.50, which is still more than cheap third-party knockoffs, but with $4.84 shipping, comes out to $41.34, which is half-price of an original.

Did anyone ordered from them before? They have 8.75 reseller rating (http://www.resellerratings.com/store/BestBatt (external link)) and aren't located in China, just New Jersey.

Whaddaya think?

go for it,let us know how it turns out. New Jersey and New York are just ports for Chinese stuff to filter through, then again doesn't everything. all you can do is try it

I've ordered it today. Will post an update, once I receive it.
What partially convinced me is their decent reseller rating and an unconditional 30-days return policy.
I guess, we'll see.

I won't take the chance of the battery leaking or melting and killing the warranty on the camera. I think the extra $30 on a Canon battery is like an insurance policy. MHO.

I have received a battery today. It states that it's 7.4v vs. 7.2v original Canon battery.
I put into Canon's charger and the charger has recongized it just fine. I left it fully charge, which took about 1.5 to 2 hours (I was doing something else, so didn't really pay attention to the charge time).
After that I have placed into my 7D and checked the battery info. Viola! Camera happily accepted the battery, told me it was fully charged and showed 3 green squares for the recharge perfomance.
After I registered the battery, I snapped a photo and the counter was incremented to 1.
In conclusion, I will continue using it and if there are any problems or fast degradation, I will make sure to post it here. I have a friend's wedding this weekend, where I'm planning to shoot (not a paid gig though, just for my own pleasure, also makes nice gifts). We'll see how it goes, but so far, so good.
If everyting goes fine with it, I'm planning on buying another one.

Cheers

Thanks for the info. With the prices for a genuine LP-E6 going through the roof lately, alternative options are always welcomed.

Not quite sure how a classical instrument (external link) ties into this though... ;)

Hmm, I could probably come up with some kind of associative chain explanation instead of admitting a spelling error, but alas, I'm too lazy. :D
