Has anyone used the Adorama budget focusing rail? It is a good price if it works well.
If it works, I'll order one. If it is a waste of money, I'd rather wait until I want to pick up a more expensive one.

not used that one but there is a thread about the $50 ebay rail which is a similar concept
I think that in general it is good enough. I have one from a different company (UN - some general company that I got in Singapore) and it is good enough for me. some pros and some people with more disposable income :) get the automatic ones - which are really nice!

The adorama rails, which are also sold by many hongkong retailers on ebay - are great for their price point. Certainly able to work with even high magnification work and certainly superior to some other tails in that lower price bracket (like the manfrotto).
I think the only major upgrades from these would be rails similar ot the novoflex rails - which retail at a very high price!

Thanks. I currently have the Sigma 50 macro and tubes and plan to get a longer macro lens. I am very tempted by the Sigma 70, but I know that I'd be better off with a Sigma 105, or another macro lens in that range.
Is the working distance of the 70 much shorter than the 105?
I know that the longer macros are useful, but I would prefer to use lenses that I can handhold in addition to use on a tripod.

I've never used a 100mm macro lens so don't quite know how (working wise) much difference you'd notice between a 70mm and 100mm. I would say however that (with flash support) you should be able to handhold at least up to the sigma 150mm. That is my working combo at the moment - 70mm and 150mm and they compliment each other well.
