I had a quick question. Do you guys usually do your formal couple shots before/after the wedding day or on the same day? I'd like to know your experiences.

Thanks,

Gome

+2 95% of the time. 5% of the time we do them another day. We never do them a different day.

On the wedding day. Formals are usually done before the ceremony.

About a third of the couples don't want to see each other prior to the service and that's fine but we try and talk them out of this if they have a heavy shot load.

Most formals here are done at the church with big families and it's such a pain in the ass to do them after. The couple has to exit the church after the ceremony, drive around and come back. Plus all the extended family needs to stay behind and it's hard to get the couple alone.

5% of the time we do them another day. We never do them a different day.

Huh?

Always on the same day - I tell my clients that 15 minutes will do for the posed pics and 15 max for the groups.

In Southern California they are typically the same day after the ceremony.

OK thanks guys. I just wanted to confirm because I know some wedding photogs in SoCal do separate studio sessions if the couple do not mind doing it either before or after the wedding day. I guess it depends on what the couple and photographer discuss and what is offered.

Thanks!
