Hey guys, *long* time reader, very new poster though. :)

I have been toying with the idea of getting a new generation PocketWizard transmitter (TT1 or TT5) and use it on top of my camera between it and, for example, a Skyport. That way I would be able to use the PW's HyperSync.
A number of threads have already confirmed that this works.

Here's what I'm wondering about:

If I were to get a TT5 instead of just a TT1, would that TT5 still work as a Receiver if mounted to my 5D's hot shoe? Or does it then shut down all receiving functions and go into TX mode only?

If it did work as a receiver, I would be able to use the Sekonic lightmeter's PW module to trigger it.
Not a deal breaker if it doesn't, but would be nice if it still did work as a receiver nonetheless :-)

Yes, if you had a TT5 on the hot shoe of your camera and a flash on the hot shoe of that same TT5 at the same time, it will receive transmissions by default and trigger the flash.

There is a specific option in the TT5 menu to disable reception if you don't want it to receive, i.e. for situations like this in the event you don't want other persons' pocketwizard signals triggering your flash unit while it's on the TT5 on your camera.

This is what I needed to know. I was worried that it might disable its regular receiving function by default when sitting on top of a camera. Thanks! :-)
