i have both...

construction & material:
i prefer the shoulder strap and webbing material quality of LL
i prefer the construction of the shoulder strap of BR

fucnction:
LL webbing tends to stay flatter and is less cumbersome
BR webbing kinks and folds easily as it is not as densely woven
but the webbing types do not have any effect on function of either of them.

mounting:
both LL and BR has that machined part that you screw onto the camera base.
LL size is smaller... appx 1/2 ~ 5/8" Dia overall(?)
BR seemed bigger

i'm sure size does not matter... they both seemed to be machined from alum billet.

Fastening:
BR clamp style is more rugged, albeit the exposure of metal to camera body has been mentioned a bit here and there...
LL clam uses Side Release Buckle of a good (Duraflex) brand and model.

I am a bit concerned about the ease in which the LL can be un-buckled...
I am a bit concerned about the BR metal carabiner coming in contact with camera

used LL for an outing to the zoo...
on my 7D, the position of the camera (when the LL was fixed to the Right side of neck strap mount, when facing lcd of camera), the mode dial kept turning when my camera came into contact with my hip.

maybe i should mount it at the base like normal folks do...

that's bout it...

cheers!

I put gaffers tape on the bottom of my camera just in case the carabiner rubs against it.

I found the knurled ring on the ConnectR-2 was scratching the camera body, so I used some heat shirnk tubing to cover the offending parts.

I have both the BR-5 and the LL. The reason I decided to order the LL as well was because that I find the BR-5 for some situations a bit bulky and that the BR-5 is connected to the podmount. You´ll have to unscrew the podmount when using a tripod, which some find to be a hassle. The LL is more discrete (smaller shoulderpad) and you can fasten the LL to almost any part of the camera body you desire.

However, after getting the LL, I still fasten the LL to the podmount because I think that position balances the camera best. IMHO, I find the BR-5 more comfortable when used with the heavier lenses or when I want to travel light and just bring some accessories in the sholderpad. But I really like the LL when I want to draw less attention. They are both great camera straps. If I were to buy a camera strap again, I would probably have bought the BR-7 which seems like a great compromise between the two. FYI, I have never tried the BR-7 and I might the wrong...
