Hi guys, this was my first opportunity to try my panning shots at a real racetrack, it was a challenge but also a blast !!!!

I had the fortune to get a special pass to get into the track (photographer's zones) and get really close to the action.

CC is very welcomed as I'm still learning and trying to improve in every way I can.

All pictures were handheld. Editing in Lightroom, contrast, light, etc.

Thanks for looking !!!

I think you did a really great job! Good composition and PPing.

Were you shooting fairly stopped down or wide open? Not sure if some of the shots are a tiny bit soft due to barely missing focus or a thin DOF. Like in #6, my eye keeps getting drawn to the back of the blue rider's jersey.

Regardless, I'm just nick picking a bit but overall I really like what you've done.

I'm just learning too, and I have yet to shoot these types of action shots so please take my critique with a grain of salt. I'm sure getting good results is a lot harder than one might think.

Nice work!

Hi MrGM, thanks so much for your comments!!!

I was shooting with Tv mode most of the time between 1/125 and 1/200, Iso 100 @ 200mm.

They go so fast that sometimes is really hard to focus, but the experience was great, I've learned a ton, and I can't wait to go next time and shoot some more. There's another race in a couple of weeks, I'll post the pictures and hopefuly they'll show improvements.

Best,

Thank you Drakeskakes, this is my 3rd attempt actually, the first two were just in a regular street with some friends, crappy conditions, no light or too much light... and just trying to figure all the settings...

Good tip if you're able to go to a racetrack... bring an extra battery and tons of memory space !!! lol!

I just took more than 2,000 photos in a few hours... still learning when to shoot and when not to...

I like your photos and I guess it's a matter of personal preferance but I think I'd prefer the ground to be level rather than having it look like they are running uphill.
