Excellent! That's a view not many punters like me will ever see in real life

It does show just how those tip vortices are messing with the flow, the vapour trails end up swapping with each other. At least I'm assuming it's the tip vortices doing all that?

Yes, without boring you with a lot of aerodynamic mumbo jumbo the wings generate a pair of vortices and you can clearly see they are rotating in opposite directions. Somewhat hypnotic to watch in real time.

Every evening an armada of aircraft leave Asia to form an air bridge of commerce headed to North America and Europe. Sometimes the order of things gives a clumping effect and we travel in closely positioned packs.
Sometimes you feel you are out there all by yourself, and sometimes there is lots of company.

Thanks for all of the very kind comments.

That's pretty cool, watched three planes go over the central valley in Ca yesterday, all very close in appearance from the gound going h same direction. It was pretty cool to watch, had never seen that before.

Nice shots. Back in the pre-GPS/INS days, we Navs would love to see the cons from the commercial jets - confirmed we were probably somewhere close to where we thought we were.
