Hmm, those seem much closer to what I'd expect.

Thanks Stealthy!

Great job, Ninja! Definately similar results on test #2. The 1D4 sure has that 6400/12800 stuff working well.

I can still see a slight brightness difference in the overall pictures, but I don't think that small of a difference can account for the larger difference in noise at the super-high ISO settings.

This is giving me some pause to think about how I want to map out my camera future now.

Why do you need to map your camera future? Just sell that 7D and get the MK IV. :)

Nice comparions Stealthy. I actually like the test images from the last batch with your hair clips. The 1D IV defintely has the edge.

:D

That's the general plan, but I'm holding back for a while. There are other financial considerations at this time.

I hear ya. I would get the 1D IV if it was FF but, that's just me. :)

why is there so much more saturation in the 5dMKII images? Call me a stickler but were both cameras set to the same picture style with the same settings? I know the MKIV is leaps and bounds better @ high ISO but this test seems a little off.

I think it's the resolution of the 5D MK II. ;)

Don't blame me, blame Adobe. ;)

RAW files batch processed through Adobe Camera RAW (in Photoshop CS5) all with identical settings (Adobe Standard... which suck with colours BTW). So perhaps the 5DII RAW is a bit more mature or something. Still nothing to concern yourself about there. :p

The MKIV isn't "leaps and bounds better" than the 5DMKII when it comes to high ISO noise!

I agree with Nick. In most cases the 5Dii has no more noticeable noise than the 1DIV. Especially after NR is added.

It's like the 1DIV vs D3s. In comparitive tests the D3s is better than the 1Div (in terms of noise) after PP however the 1DIV is very similar (up to 12800iso at least).

Yep. The D3s is pretty amazing from ISO12800-25600, but honestly, at this point, all these bodies are amazing. 1DMKIV, 5DMKII, D3, D700, they are all pretty equal in terms of noise handling, and they are all amazing!:D
