Mallard takeoff run

I was hanging out at the local duck pond and practicing with the Wimberley Head. I was using the Canon 1D4 with the 500mm/f4 + 1.4X TC. I watched this male mallard getting a bit "itchy". I was already on him when he sprung into action and started his takeoff run.

I'm having fun with the new set-up. It does take practice and some patience too. BIF are unpredictable and sometimes frustrating to capture!

Hi Stan, thanks! I think it captures those miliseconds of the transition from water to flight. The "contrails" behind the duck tell a story.
