Out & about early this morning specifically to look for the pair of little owls nesting nearby to home & was pleased I didn't need to wait as they were there "on cue" & ready to pose!:D

Haven't seen a Burrowing Owl in a tree before. Nice shots of these little guys.

Thankyou Mitch & akhan - they're very much like your burrowers aren't they.

Update on Owl - I didn't notice when I took the pic of it in the crops (#1) that it appeared to only have one eye (thought the other one was obscured by the crops initially.)
Out & about looking for it this evening, when I spotted it up a tree - only when I got home did I spot the one eye.
Appalling quality as the light was bad & ISO whacked up to 640.

Wow, I didn't even catch that these were UK owls. They do look just like our Burrowing owls here. I wonder how he hunts with just one eye. No binocular vision with a single eye, or depth perception. Maybe they do hunt by sound as many other owls do.

I'm pretty sure that this is the male of the pair Mitch - I see more of the 2 eyed one around the nest area, although this one hangs around nearby bringing in beetles etc.
He obviously can catch food ok, as I've watched him drop down off of the overhanging branches into the field edge & tuck into beetles etc.

I'll have to nickname him "Nelson".

Hoping I may get to see the fledgling owlets soon (fingers crossed).

Where is the nest, in a tree? That first shot shows him on the ground, so I thought he was a burrower.

They live here Mitch - about 15ft up or so.

There's a couple of branches to the left of the hole, slightly higher up which they swoop down into the hole from - crafty blighters won't go in if I'm near tho' - got to get the cammo net out when I have more time.

Looks like he's peeking out from the bottom of the hole. :)

After not seeing them for a few days, thinking the owlets may have fledged, I was quite surprised to see them still here.

Here's a couple from yesterday (a bit soft / blurred) and one from today.
