User friendly photo printing

I want to be able to choose a number of different photos and print them up on 1 sheet of paper at different sizes. Seems like there would be a user friendly way to pick a bunch of photos and just have them print at whatever size I want. Depending on the number of photos I want, I realize that I would have to use more than 1 piece of paper. But I don't want to waste real estate on the sheets. I suppose it would be easy enough to individually print each to a separate piece of paper - but that is a waste of paper. I use a Mac and I have LR 2 and PS CS5. I have just started with PS, so I don't know it's capabilities. But whenever I have tried this with LR, I just walk away in frustration after fooling with those sliders trying to make different sizes. There has got to be an easy way for me (and my wife who doesn't want to learn a complex program) to do this. In my PC days we used to have a simple Hewlett Packard program that did this really simply.

You should look into Qimage. It's natively a PC application, but many Mac users run it.

One easy way to do this is to create a new file the size of the paper you want to print on. Then use the File>Place command, and select the images you want to print one at a time. They will be placed on your canvas as Smart Objects with bounding boxes, and can be moved and resized. It's not the world's most elegant solution, but it will work.

LR3 lets you put multiple photos on a template, but I don't know about LR2, and I haven't really delved into the details. I know with LR you do have to mess around with a few things to get a "template" to work the way you want it if it's not "standard".
