Hi

I was wondering if I got a CP, do I need a lens hood? How different are the functions they perform? Thanks!!!!

I'd always use a lens hood, regardless of what type of filter you have on the front.

Yes. They serve completely different functions. You may not be able to use the hood with your CP, depending on the lens, but you will want to use it any time you can.

They perform different functions and you should have both. The hood blocks out stray, unwanted light, and acts as a front bumper for your lens. The cpl is only used in specific situations such as removing reflections from water or highlighting the contrast in the sky. Think bluer skies and whiter clouds.
