Dear Photofriends

5 years ago I bought my first DSLR, the 30D with the 17-85mm and soon after the 70-300mm, f:5.6 and the 60mm macro lens. Has served me well so far. Just a few moths ago I upgraded seriously to the Mark IV with a L-lens (24-105mm) and a new flash, Speedlite EX580 II. It's definitely fun to turn 50 years of age.
I originally wanted to keep the 30D as a backup and because of the fabulous macrolens, but have been thinking lately that I should sell my old outfit except the 70-300mm and buy i.e. the new 2.8/100mm macrolens for full frame. It's a little risky to have only one camera when you are travelling, but the Mark IV is built like a thank so it can stand a fair amout of abuse.
What would you do? It may i.e happen that one of my cameras are stolen - what then?

Save the camera and motive, the photographer is already disabled!

MKIV, G1 X, Macro 100mm, 24-105mm, Canon 8-15mm, 70-300mm, Sigma 150-500mm, next: TS-E 24/II

Re: anything being stolen... make sure it's 100% insured before you leave.

A gripless 30D+charger doesn't take up all that much space if you're keen on having a backup - you could just sell the 17-85 and 60mm and save the difference to get a full-frame macro lens.

You could sell the macro and the 30d and pick up the 100mm macro and a cheap rebel, to have a backup

Selling the macrolens and the 17-85mm and keeping the 30D seems like the best option. Substituting the lenses with a 100mm macro FF. Have insured all my gear so they give equivalent gear without reduction for wear and tear. Premium is about 2% of value. Good deal in my opinion.
