I'm going to the club today with a bunch of friends, and want to take my 7D with me. The problem is: where do I store it? Or always carry it with me on a strap and look like a geek:) ?
I want to hear suggestions from those that have done it before. Any advices welcome!

My friend has done it but he's the club photographer. I say keep it at home and enjoy your time with your drunk friends, and if you must bring a camera take a point and shoot.

OT: which club?

You can look cool OR carry a camera around your neck. I vote for alternating "geek" trips to the clubs with "lets get drunk and ****" trips.

Skybar, the one on Sunset. They have a private party - French Tues Nights

Lowepro flipside? Otherwise, I'd probably take a point and shoot so you don't have to babysit your gear. Get drunk, be merry!

Pft, a faaaaaast lens, high ISO, and the right clothes, you can look good AND be a photographer. Just expect it to be more of a PnS style than an artsy one.

I say 50mm f1.2 for the night. :3

But, yeah, I definitely advise not to be DRINKING much AND shooting. Get a fifth of Black Label and sit on 'er and snap some shots. But, wear the camera proud. Why not? Make it your fashion accessory for the night. LOL.

Pffft, black? ...go blue ;)

but i would put my vote on a p&s. you need a good camera in a club, be a dedicated cameraman and use the SLR, or be halfway cool and get the P&S. Or get a Leica if you need something good and small...but well, yeah. most club cameramen I see carry their whole gear (ie. its a job) otherwise, they don't show up with their SLR gear at all.

If you can read this, you don't need a macro | 7D + 5DIII + Waaaay too much spent....

unless you're there at the club to shoot, don't bring around a dslr. it's just awkward. go enjoy yourself, trust me, handling a drink is much easier without a camera in your other hand

Depends on the club but if it's upscale then brining the camera will be easy. Just keep it on your self the whole time. I usually sling my camera over one shoulder like a messenger bag and have it behind me when walking around.

If bringing the 7D I would tote along a ultra wide to get group shots and maybe a flash. If the flash is going, use 2nd curtain. :)

Hehe, if you need a cheaper alternative, try Glenlivich 18year or Matisse. :)

to the OP, also realize that some clubs may be adverse to seeing an SLR in their clubs without their sponsoring it. dunno about the particular one you are going -- it's been a long time since I've been drinking on Sunset. Last one I went to was some cowboy themed one with the mechanical bull in the middle.
