Im Curious
I wonder how much money he will make?
At $79 a download and virtually, people from all over the world watching.
If he sold 10,000 downloads, that's $790,000.
Not a bad weekend!

I doubt that many people will purchase the download. Regardless, there were a lot of people/expenses that would get a piece of the entire pie.

That was a great show. A little bit too long to watch in real time as my attention decreased some time, if I had the patience I would have bought the download and watched it in smaller pieces. But no, I stayed in front of my screen all weekend.

I wish there would be more training like that. I've learned some new tips, I've discovered some new techniques, and I got comforted in some of my knowledge and habits. But I have to admit that most of my studio previous learning came from Zack's blog. Then I was in a known field to start with.

A big thanks to Creativelive and Zack Arias.

Overall, I enjoyed the workshop very much. Yes it was long, but what I missed live, I saw in the overnight rebroadcast. It was a perfect complement to the One Light DVD (although I preferred that, as he did outdoor, mixing with ambient and more speedlites).

It was my first Creative Live class, and I thought they did an awesome job. A little bit better communication as to the schedule and when breaks were would have been nice, but besides that, great job.

I wasn't interested before, but now I'm dying to see the upcoming Photoshop class to see them clean up that aquarium shoot.

Like watching any class, I often find myself lusting after a piece of gear. Yeah, the octa would be wonderful, but out of my budget for now. The Manfrotto Magic Arm though really grabbed (excuse the pun) my attention. Anyone else find a piece of gear they wanted after the presentation?

I already have an $120 eBay 2m octa that's doing a great job. But it's a monster to move in my home studio. On the other hand I'm using my 80cm octa all the time, much more than my other softboxes.

The magic arm is a piece of gear I'm looking for a long time now. But I want the one with friction wheel. They are selling for $130 and I don't want to pay that much for it. I'm still watching craigslist, potn and ebay for a used one more in my budget range.

I've already spent a lot of money this year in my studio setup as I bought a set of four used white lightning strobes, some nice cheap stands and modifiers, seamless, a bunch of cheap Quantaray speedlites, rf602 and cybersync remotes, etc...
I should discipline myself to first learn to use what I have to it's maximum potential before lurking to new toys. That's one truth I don't want to hear but that Zack was hammering all week-end.

I want strobes! Seriously, I have been shopping for over a year now (not in a huge hurry, it seems). I was waiting on the Einsteins to come out for reviews, and now there is a massive backorder for them. I had been planning on 2 Einsteins with 64" silver PLM's, but now I am reconsidering that after the workshop. I'm now toying with the idea of AB1600 + 2xAB800 for more versatility at the expense of color/power consistency.

There is a trade-off in just about every purchase. The two Einsteins would give me more consistency, powerful units when I needed power, and fast flash durations when I drop down one stop (faster than AB800 at full power) for sports. Then again, I could also consider 1 Einstein + 2xAB800's since the main (Einstein) would probably be the greatest headache to solve color issues with. Then, I would have 960 Ws of fast flash (AB800's on full and Einstein on 1/2) if I needed to really light up a dimnasium (I just love that term...).

So, wdwpsu, I can tell you there is some rekindled gear lust out here (especially for those of us that were thinking about making a purchase soon anyway...). :)

I'm off lining my cage with newspaper.

I pre-ordered Zack's creativeLIVE course and downloaded part 1 and 2 of day 1 so far (rough cut).
I noticed that audio and video are not in sync which I don't like at all. I hope they're gonna fix this for the final edit.

Yes that's the one. If you purchased it before the end of the 3 day course then it was $79. I purchased mine on Saturday since I was busy on Sunday. Great course BTW.

I'll take a stab at this... if I remember what Zack said....

He mentioned the 5D2 was to sync at 1/200th but it wasn't all that accurate with the sync speed. He noticed when he was in post he had images at 1/200th and even 1/160th showing the shutter. So... he shoots the 5D2 @ 1/125th to make sure there isn't any shutter showing up in his images.

Someone back me up here... I think this was what he had mentioned... LOL :)
