$2200 to spend on 2 bodies, what to get? Lenses I have are in my signature and I think are optimized for full frame.

I'm interested in upgrading my bodies (being tempted by HD video ad other such goodies). Here are some options:

5D2 plus the cheapest backup I can find, such as an XT/350D/20D
Keep the 5Dc and get a newer rebel like the T1i that had video
Suck it up and keep my 40D/5Dc combo.

I like the idea of having the most advanced features in my primary body. Then again that requires the most stretch of my budget.

Agreed with zelseman! You can find a great deal on 1D MkII's!! That and a 5Dc would be a pretty great setup IMO.

Sell your 40D and upgrade it to a 7D.7D and 5D is a great combo-later upgrade the 5Dc to the 5DII.

Spend some of your $2200 on lenses. Spend the rest on a trip or some such thing. You get plenty good enough camera bodies.

with the new firmware though the 5D2 does have pretty damn good video (which is one of the main 'advanced features' the OP mentions). AF and burst rate are probably the main "advanced" features it is missing out on

if you absolutely NEED and WANT video then I say save up and sell the 40d then buy the 7D. Then you would have the 7D and 5Dc combo... pretty damn versatile combo if i may say.

This would be my vote. The user interface of the rebels is too far different from the 5D. I get screwed up moving back and forth.

What about keep the 5DC, sell the 40D and buy a 1D Mark III?

Take Care,
Cheers, Patrick

I just sold my 40D so now It's down to either the 5Dc + 7D or 5D2.

Advantages 7D/5Dc: more versatile, 720p video, AF, FPS, wireless flash

Advantages 5D2: Only have to carry one body (I only have seldom needs for backup), lenses are optimized for FF, better IQ

Wish I could update the poll....
