it was the best $380 i've spent. it blows out the rest of my L lenses in terms of sharpness.

Neat thread!

I just got my 85 f1.8 less than a month ago and to tell the truth, I'm still getting used to it. It's hard to take my 24-70 f2.8L of my body, but this 85mm makes it worth it.
Here are a couple taken with it recently.

This one was for a lens test that I was working on. I put the data in the corner to show someone.

The two guys (work buddies who posed for me) aren't the sharpest images I have ever taken and I'm bummed by that. I just need some more time with that lens on my camera I think. The little girl came out nice, well except her wierd expression.

The other thing is that's fill flash from the on-camera pop-up! Sometimes that thing blows me away, sometimes not...

I am probably more fond of this shot than it deserves technically. It is my favorite, very sweet niece, Dawn, who is just such a delight to be around.

Plus it was really supposed to just be a test of the limits of this lens - using only one small votive candle for all the available light and then pulling out all the stops with the 85 mm 1.8.

Shot at 1/5 sec handheld (an eternity), 1.8 and ISO 1600.

Fun guys!! This is with my Sigma 50 1.4. It is by far one of my most favorite lenses to use. After research I found that its better than the Canon 1.4... so much so that it rivals the 50L.

Since I got this lens I've been such a fan of pretty large aperature shots so here are a few of them. Now that I look back... though her skin is pretty darn milky to begin with, I think i need to take the processing down a notch.
