I'm trying to find a photography book that I remember looking through in my dim and distant past (about 25+ years ago), but I'm a bit vague on most of the details. Maybe some of you will know the book I'm thinking of, so here is all I can remember about it:
It was quite a large hardback book with black and white photographs of spectacular captures.
Amongst the photographs was a photograph of a scaffold stand collapsing, which was overloaded with spectators at a sports event. Another photograph was the point of impact when a jet aircraft hit the ground and disintegrated. I have vague memories of another photograph where a photographer was being hit by a racing car, although I may have that bit wrong.
I think it may also have had the Eddie Adams famous photograph of the Viet Cong officer execution, Malcolm Browne's photograph of Thich Quang Duc setting fire to himself and Robert Capa's 'Falling Soldier' photograph. I might be confusing these three with another book though.
I'm in the UK, so the book may be particular to this country, although maybe not! I last saw the book in around 1985, but I think it was a 1960s or 1970s publication.
Any ideas?
Thanks
Mike
