I checked out the first dozen pages of the Canon 17-55 page and wasn't too impressed with it either. So there's hope that this really may be a kick ass lens. I'd like to see some bokeh and f/4 samples if possible. Flickr

Don’t get me wrong, I want this lens to be great. I’ve been looking for a cheaper comparable alternative to the 17-55 for a while now. From the samples however this lens looks to be only the former and not the latter. Just purchased this lens after seeing the latest samples in this thread and others. Boy am I eating my words now. I've only been able to shoot stuff in my office so far but wow is this thing sharp. Even at 2.8 it seems to do fairly well. The corners and edges are not perfect wide open but stop it down a little and it's fantastic. This is my first lens with is/os so I'm loving being able to shoot at 1/15 with confidence. I still think it's a bit behind some of the canon lenses in terms of color but the gap isn't as wide as I thought. I think some of the washed out samples in this thread can be attributed to shooting and processing style. I can't wait to get out of here and run it through it's paces. Et Facta Est Lux

I have yet to be able to shoot anything other than the junk on my desk but I'm liking mine so far.
