Does anyone else have serious focusing issues with their lens? It takes great photos but only when I can get it to focus correctly!

I really want to start using it for wide angle portrait shots but every time I have, the focus has been extremely frustrating and half of the shots are either back-focusing or just completely off. Would sending it in help any or is the focusing issue just the nature of this beast?

Mine hunts every now and then, but not enough to bother me. Most of the time when it hunts it's usually in conditions that I'd expect a lens to hunt, like low light, not enough contrast in the subject, etc.. Otherwise it's a great lens and I love using it...

Mine was having a lot of back-focusing issues, plus you caould hear something loose in the lens if you wiggled it around. Sent it in and came back flawless, a lot better focusing, and whatever was loose they fixed.

Those are the exact problems mine has. I'm gonna call tomorrow and get it on its way. Thanks!

This is some old, unused train station in Yuma, AZ. There are a lot of cool angles to get some good shots of this place. I just so happened to drive by at sunset and snapped this one.
