I ordered the Sigma from Adorama for $629 and some change. It came in a kit with a camera cleaner thing and a cheap filter. I probably won't use any of it but it was $40 cheaper!

Can anyone do a video of AF speed? Like show how long it takes to rake from one end to the other for example. Just got a 17-55 IS 2nd hand but if this lens is better can always do the swap. 4 stop OS already beats the 3 stops on the 17-55.

maybe its just my monitor but the few early sample photos I've seen seem to lack a bit in the color and contrast department.

Hope you're not basing a lack of contrast from the pics on the first page, taken on an overcast day.

That aside, ordered via ebay/adorama 630-8%+6 shipping. Won't be till the end of the week till any pictures come from me, but till then, if there's anything in particular anyone would like to see, name the content/time of day/light condition you want to see and I'll try to recreate. In a city, so brick walls are mighty easy to come by :)

No, even the ones from the link and the smattering I've seen from some other post don’t look all that good. Don’t get me wrong, I want this lens to be great. I’ve been looking for a cheaper comparable alternative to the 17-55 for a while now. From the samples however this lens looks to be only the former and not the latter.

Portraits :) I'm not so worried about the OS working or not, more concerned about the pure image quality. I'd like to use this for weddings...
