It's not a problem at all for me. And you are correct, the Sigma HSM does not allow FTM.

Well, I'll sit on it for a while... 47thstphoto doesn't have them in stock, and I can buy at Adorama at any time... need to think.

Just to be clear, it's Sigma's micro HSM that does not allow FTM (which the 17-50 has). Sigma's ring HSM lenses (e.g., 24-70) do allow FTM.

"Raw" is not an acronym, abbreviation, nor a proper noun; thus, it should not be in capital letters.

I just wanna thank you as I just did this. I offered $600 and it was declined a few hours later. I put in $629 and it was immediately accepted about 20 seconds later. I should have tried $615. Haha

The other cheapest price I could find was $654 at Abes of Maine using their luxury15 promotion code.

And on the plus side I ordered the lens last night and it's already on its way. But no tracking number..so now I don't know when it will be here??? Ohhh the anticipation!

Haha, took your advice and tried $615.... approved! :)

Have you considered purchasing it here in Canada? You can get it for about $50 more thank from B&H final price w/ tax + shipping, but you'll be getting the 10 Canadian warranty instead of the 1 year you'll only get on the imported lens.

Aden Camera in Toronto has it for $735: http://www.adencamera.com/prod-overview.asp?ProdID=3371 (external link)

You can buy it from them, or get Henry's or a local store to price match it.

Another alternative is to say order from Beach Camera http://www.beachcamera.com …oduct.aspx?sku=SG1750SEOS (external link) with coupon code BEACHREWARDS30. This will cut the price down to $639. The shipping is free and because it's located in NJ, there is no tax if you ship it to NY. You can ship this package to a mailbox service near the border and pick it up yourself from there.

B&H and 47streetphoto will tax you @ 8.8% I believe.

Well I finally bit the bullet and ordered one of these. I can't wait. I hope that I dont come across any issues to make me regret it (past up a 2nd hand canon 17-55 for the same price just last week).

Anyways, hopefully be delivered early next week! Can't wait!

Here's a little test I did just a few moments ago. Sigma 17-50 vs. 50mm f1.8 (Canon).

Sigma @ 45mm. Both lenses @ f5.6, both shot @ ISO 100. Photo's taken on a tripod, remote shutter release, Live View w/ maximum magnification for AF lock.

Sigma Full Image (Click for various sizes up to 100%)

I honestly can't even distinguish any major differences between the two. Both are razor sharp. I definitely love the focal range of the Sigma, it's such a great all-around lens!!
