guess its normal . it could be that the os is engaged slightly when ever the lens is used to meter or focus ,, it clunks alot haha . my lens for somereason seems to be getting more accurate with the focus. of course i was shooting in low light with 2000 iso so the photos are a little grainy , and its hard to tell the exact point of focus . but it has been doing good. im still going to send it in to sigma this week

Mine even clunks after I turn the power off, even if OS wasnt on. Either way, the warranty is long and it seems all of them do it. A non-issue really.

I just received this lens on Friday. It was my first "good" lens that I purchased, replacing the standard 18-55IS kit lens for my XSi. I haven't had an opportunity to really take it out and find some good shots to test it out on due to the excessive heat over the weekend, but based on what I've seen so far the improvement over my kit is dramatic. Very happy, and I did get this shot out of it so far which shows just how "prime-like" it can be @ 2.8.

50mm, 1/25th @ f/2.8

Car graveyard. Literally thousands of dead cars here.

I just received this lens last week, and I have to say that I'm happy with the lens! Took it to a car show this weekend. Mated with my B&W Circ Polarizer, pictures came out great!

They do mention this in the usage manual. Nothing to be concerned about :)

Finally got out to test this lens out in the real world. It was really challenging because the sun was crazy bright, but I'm happy with the results.

Just got a Sigma 17-50 2.8 and so far I really like it. It is a good length and weight on my 7D. The zoom ring is a little stiff, but loosens up a little after you turn it once or twice.

The autofocus seems to be spot-on so far, but I haven't tried to test it in low light yet. The stabilization works quite well so far.

I tried the Tamron and Canon competitors at a local camera shop. The Tamron focused quite slowly. The Canon seemed to work similar to the Sigma, but was about twice the price.

Mike

My current Canons: 5D, S90, 7D, 550D.
Current lenses: Canon 28 1.8, 50 1.8, 85 1.8, 100 2.0, Sigma 50 1.4, Tamron 28-80 2.8, Tamron 75-200
