Hey there,

I found this 'Stick' for you to check out - I hope this helps:

https://photography-on-the.net …=331725&highlight=sekonic

You can set 3 individual camera profiles to the one Sekonic L-758D(R) light meter!
(So, in this instance - this tutorial very much applies to your 5Dii body)

;)

Unwise!

Simply put:
The Canon cameras have different sensors across the body range - well almost!
You cannot guarantee that any 2 like camera bodies will have identical light measuring sensitivity capabilities.
So, it is best practise to configure/calibrate your own camera independently for accuracy and dependability.

Nah. There can not be that much of a difference in sensors between one 5d and another. Canon sensors are made to very exacting tolerances and sorry I'm not buying your reasoning. Someone has done this already for theirs so why recreate the wheel?

OK - I just did some research for you on this to confirm either way....

This is from the Sekonic website (scroll-down to Page 40):

EXTRACT: (copied and pasted for convenience)
Camera Exposure Profiling
Since no two digital cameras, camera and light meter or different types of film are likely to agree on the same exposure, they need to be calibrated. The L-758DR, L-758D and L-758CINE can be programmed to match the sensitivity of the film or digital camera sensor for prefect exposure control. In addition, since film and digital cameras have their own unique dynamic range, clipping points (exposure tolerance) and varying ISO sensitivity they need to be profiled. To ensure repeatable and consistent measurements and to be aware of the dynamic range of a particular type of film or digital camera before making a photograph, The DIGITALMASTER L-758 series can be programmed to store, recall and display up to three different digital cameras or film types.
For information about supported models, visit the Sekonic website.
http://www.sekonic.co.jp/English/ (external link)

By all means, you can copy someone elses profile.
In all cases, Sekonic recommend that you calibrate for yourself and create your own profile to ensure accuracy.
There might be a YouTube video that explains how to create these Profiles a bit better or maybe even on the Sekonic website itself (I just can't remember.... )

Thanks. I saw that. But no where does it state that there are differences between tolerances between the same model cameras!! Do you really thinlk that when Canon mass produces sensors by the 1,000's for the 5D that there would be more then a varation of let's say 1 /10 of a stop (if that) between sensors? Maybe between models but not within models. No way. I'm still looking to avoid buying $200 worth of registration cards. Someone out there has the data for me! Thanks
