A couple of happy mistakes, or were they?

I was out shooting up my garden this morning and while I was shooting my very dark purple/blue Siberian Iris 'Cesars Brother' I let the meter only get a reading from the darkest part of the pedals. The result was a washed out background. The BG was actually the green grass or green leaves on the bearded German Iris' all the way on the other side of the yard.

Blown out and ruined on first glance, then I saw something in them.

So, was it a mistake that should have been deleted or do they work?

I'm not crazy about the almost peach-coloured background with the purple iris, but I think the photos are lovely overall. They have kind of a dreamy quality.

Yeah, I was wondering about that too. That must be the darkest parts of whatever the BG that was left after the neclear bomb hit. I was thinking about taking out those shades, but then again, I might as well just cut the flower taken it inside and set up my strobes and shot the flower against a white piece of foam core. I still haven't decided if I'll take those colors out or not.

Thanks for the comment. That helps!

I think they are pretty fortunate mistakes, especially the first one. I like the veining detail and the neutral background works for me, very dream like.
