^ That's exactly the same issue I'm having. Either way I'll let everyone know if a trip to Sigma will fix it or not.

Some B.S. test shots. This lens seems very nice against static objects.

Here's the level of CA I am getting.

Keep in mind these have sharpening explicitly set to ZERO in ACR and PS CS5. So yeah, it's pretty sharp wide open!

100% Crop

CA removed in PS CS5.

Resized
IMAGE: http://nicksan.zenfolio.com/img/s1/v20/p871713660.jpg

100% crop of a teddy bear. Focused on the eye of course.
IMAGE: http://nicksan.zenfolio.com/img/s1/v20/p545032655.jpg

Another example of CA. Not really too bad. Of course these aren't really reflective surfaces.

keep the reviews coming.. I'm lurking on here, thinking if should pick up 135L or 85mm .. I prefer 85mm focal length but do not want/have time to do the extensive test as you have... or should i just suck it up, stop buying those clothes and stop drinking for 2 mths, pick up the 85L and be done w/ it.... hmmm

That's a good idea! Its a good sacrifice for the 85L! If not, going for the 135L is also a good choice.

[QUOTE=ni$mo350;11879698]I MA'd the day I got it to +10 and then a week later readjusted it to +12. It hits perfect up close but beyond 20 feet it back focuses.

yes I had that problem with the first copy. I took it back and no questions asked at the store and they re-ordered one for me. It was worth the trouble...i really like the lens...more lens than required for an amateur like me...but oh the joy of a good shot.

Wow Alan, you got an awesome copy.. Is that shot of your dog a crop? MFD seems a bit further for me. So I'm planning to send mine in this week and since this is the first time I've needed to send a lens in to recalibrate, do I need to original receipt for the lens? We're moving and I'm not sure where I put it and don't feel like digging through all my receipts.

Yes, I cropped about 20-25%. Even though the specs are similar, my copy appears to focus a little closer than my old 85/1.8 did. the Sigma is also slightly wider.

I would think any Sigmm 85 would still be under warranty since it's such a new lens. They may want to see a copy or your receipt just to verify it isn't black market. I didn't have my receipt, but they did ask me where I bought the lens, probably to verify the seller was legit.

Alright, thanks. The place I bought it from in Portland is an authorized dealer and I found them from the Sigma site so I'll call and go from there.

Well after some really hard pondering over the last few days, I've decided to give this as much of a try as possible. It's just too good of a lens at this price point to not give it a few tries. I've seen a ton of wonderful examples throughout here and flickr to just give up that easily. I'll put the rest of the money into some other stuff I want now and if down the line, it's still acting up, I'll switch to the 85L. Let's keep the images coming in the mean time!
