thanks. It makes sense. Altough I always thought that using a FF the DOF was thinner... But I understand the concept...

Well, DOF is thiner with fullframe, but for the same framing, not for the same distance from the subject.
If you wish to have the same framing with FF as with the crop, you need to get closer to the subject, so you get thiner DOF. However if you shoot from the same distance, the DOF is thiner with crop, because you have longer focal lenght with the crop.
Basically, DOF gets thiner:
-using longer focal lengt
-getting closer to the subject

Ha! Can't do it man, just bought a new iMac. I'm making the transition from nothing special HP laptop to big pretty screen (and fast might I add!) desktop. I should say that the photography on POTN just took on a whole notha meaning of incredible!

I just started a new thread on this as I couldn't find this one but I'll post here anyway as it's the official thread.

LOVE this lens already. Mine turned up today and I think I got a good copy.

Here's some of the first few shots I took with it if you're interested:

My sister, the professional baker and cake decorator once told me that my camera takes great pics. My reply was that I thought her oven baked great cakes.
