QUOTED IMAGE

is it just me or does the bokeh look a little weird on this one?

thatkatmat, did you apply a lot of sharpening to this image?

Yeah, a little, but I like it, think it looks kinda cool....and....no, no more or less than all the other shots I've posted here. (about 40% of the sliders in LR2)

yes it looks like there is "the shakes" in the back part and the front part is sturdy...

Arcticfoxchar - in that first gymnasium shot - did you focus on the goalie? Do you know if that was at infinity focus or not?

Asking because it looks as if the lens back focused if you focused on the goalie. I have noticed that mine back focuses at infinity.

yeah mine did that. at the first it was spot on out of the box...but as I pushed it during the game...AF was fine to track but then it backfocused.

I only discovered it after I loaded to computer.

I MA'd -14 and it fixed it but it is getting tweaked at the shop.

should not be changing from one day to next...who knows...despite that I am very happy with lens--no question.

Okay - thanks for that info. I noticed the same thing at a Halloween parade. My daughter is oof....but the kid in the Iron Man suit behind her is sharp.

I shoot @f2 almost all the time. Obviously stopping down makes this less of a problem, but I like f2.

I think it's a little strange that the lens started out ok but after time started to backfocus....

it was not camera...because 50mm was fine. others have thought it was strange too.... but that is the way it is....for me it is not weird.

My was at f2.8.

Edit: TAGFan did you MA? if yes what ma? just curious for comparison

Yes, I used MA. I think the setting was -10 on a 5D2.

Thanks arcticfoxchar! Looks like you must be in Sweden :D

I must say that the shifting focus issue is worrying

Not really... it was fixable with ma... the way I see it as the motor works in then it has some play...if within the limits of the ma then no problems ...if outside of that then simple calibration...it is really something to expect when you have so many parts and then so many lens that must match the various models of canon available from 10ds to 60Ds, 7Ds and 5Ds

not a fan boy but realist about a mass manufacture world
