I wouldn't bank on it, I'm pretty sure Sigma engineer have done extensive test of this lens in the lab to compare to Canon and Nikon equivalent, if the optical performance is anywhere close to the 85L II they would have charge atleast $1200 for it, who wouldn't want to save $800 if it has close to 85L IQ with faster AF?? For $900 this lens better have better CA control than 85 1.8 and just as sharp stopping down to f/1.8 :D

You mean like how the Sigmalux has the same optical performance as the 50L (apart from f/1.2), an easier-to-correct focus issue (merely requiring calibration) and costs a third the price?

I registered only to bring u some sample shot (by Ola Harström), after pages of "no photos", here you can find some full res. shots wide open, using a 5DII:

it seems pretty good to me, slightly worse than the Canon 85L and Nikon 85 but it costs a lot less!!! I hope you appreciate the samples! :)

$900

Honestly these samples aren't really seeming much better than the 85mm f1.8 to me. That f2.8 beer bottle sample has all kinds of green CA in the bokeh, so you are just trading that for purple on the Canon.
