It locks focus speed plenty fast for me on the 7D.... not as fast as the Canon 85/1.8 but certainly not SLOW like the Keg. It's quite acceptable.

I shoot with primes 95% of the time, but I like to keep a standard zoom trinity for when i might need em....If you don't use zooms too much I sure understand renting when needed... I also own the Sigma 70-200. I normally use it outdoors, so don't really need the IS. I rent the Canon IS when I shoot events. Just a thought from Daniel
