I've got two strobes that I use in my studio for lighting the subject. I'd like to get more light on the background though. What would be a cost effective way to light this area without mixing color temps?

Reflector? or a constant light that matches your flash is my only guess.

Don't try to confuse me with the facts, my mind is already made up.

look for the JTL or Flashpoint strobes, any of the inexpensive monolights is your best option.

Tungsten (i.e., hot) lights with dichroic filters.

Might be cheap, but a horrible solution.

Sometimes I use one of those 30 dollar flashes that screw into a light-bulb socket. No output adjustment, but I have a few pre-cut pieces of Neutral Density filter I can put over it to dim it some.

Is there anything I can do with my 580ex? I haven't quite figured out how to make it so it isn't so powerful that it blows everything else out.

edit: Seems the ML position did the trick for that. I'm trying to do the same with my sigma EF-500 but the radio slave I'm using with it won't fire it at all. What could I be missing here? The flash fires when I hit the test button. I should note that the same slave fires the 580ex without issue.
