If I remember right, the B-36 had service tunnels in the wings so the engines could be accessed in flight if necessary. I can't imagine that happening at 45,000 feet though. It was also the biggest bomber ever made and the first to have intercontinental range. I shoot with a Little Canon

Those are the only images I have of that particular engine, but they came out so well and it is so interesting, that I am for sure going to get some more the next time I am up at Travis. The C-124 also had service tunnels in the wings to add oil in flight. When I was a young loadmaster some of the old head flight engineers told stories of having to crawl into the wings halfway between Hawaii and California to fill em with oil so they didnt run dry!
