I just bought a 15-85 and 70-200 F4 IS to go along with my Canon 7D.

Can I get some brand/ model suggestions on a CPL for the 15-85 for general landscape use. I am confused as to wether I need to go for a slim CPL if I want to use the lens at 15mm.I would like to spend less than $150 on the CPL if possible. I was looking at Hoya and B+W and got really confused as to what I really need.

Also can I get a recommendation for UV filter models for both my lenses to use as protection when using my gear in dusty/wet conditions.

Many thanks

For the CPL, I would stick with a Hoya or B+W, although there have been some threads lately giving very positive reviews of the Marumi filters. If your budget allows (which it seems to), try to get a multi coated filter, as this should help reduce lens flare and in some cases, make the filter easier to clean. Same goes for the UV filter, especially if it will remain on your lens most of the time. Spend a bit more and get a nice multi-coated B+W or Hoya.

I can't speak from personal experience regarding the slim mount CPL on your lens, but most threads I've read from those users report no vignetting at 15mm with the normal mount CPLs. Also, if you're thinking of getting a CPL for your 70-200, just get a step up ring so you can use the 72mm CPL on both lenses.

The Hoya Pro1 D is a great polarizer. Look at the site www.2filter.com (external link) for great prices. I have the same in UV filters. The Pro1 and HD are high quality UV filters. What ever you do, don't buy cheap filters. My suggestion, read up more and decide what you need, then get good stuff. That means Hoya, Heliopan, and B&W with little exception.
