Question about sync speed - AlienBees

Hello guys,

I'm using a Canon 5DMKII with my 2 AB (AB1600 and AB800). When I use my camera at the highest sync speed (1/250) I can see the black bar showing in the photo. I'm using the CyberSync™ CST and the CyberSync™ CSR to trigger them. I have to lower the camera to 1/200 to fix it. Is it suppose to work at the camera's highest sync speed?... in this case 1/250

i've heard some people on here (including myself) not being able to go faster than 1/160 with the 5DMKII.

i also shoot with Alien Bees too (along with the same camera), and i think the only people who are able to get 1/250 with the 5DMKII are people with pocket wizards i believe (for some odd reason).

I can do fine with 1/200 and the AB1600 has to be more than 1/32...

sync speed on a 5dmkii is 200 not 250 so you are doing fine at 200. my ab's and cybers sync at 200 my rf-602's are like 125-160 so thats a step up for me.

Oh I didn't know the highest sync speed in the 5DMKII is 1/200. Thanks
