A couple of us photogs and friends at my school want to surprise this photo fanatic who recently purchased his 400D off from me as his first DSLR. So I was wondering what would be a cool for a gift costing under 150 bucks?

Tripod is out, he's probably bought himself a 50mm f/1.4 by now so no 50mm 1.8II lens... CF cards and batteries just doesn't seem fun enough I guess...

Any ideas? Whacky / Stupid photography accessories or gifts welcome!

What does he like to shoot? If landscapes, you might check out the Cokin P series filters.

Apparently I've been dubbed Foxy.

He's a social photographer, so 'camping' for landscapes and all that probably isn't his thing yet... He does a lot of event work, but a flash is too expensive. He doesn't read much really, so I think books aren't his thing. He's got a remote release that I passed to him for buying my camera, and the camera's got a battery grip with it. Haha!

Benro tripod? hmm...

I was originally going to say a circular polarizer.
However reading the post above, how about a new camera bag?
Even better, a gift certificate to a good local store and they can buy what they need.

He bought my Crumpler 7MDH off of me and loves it sooo haha. I do have a spare SGD$50 gift certificate, but it'll be kinda hard to distribute the cost over 6 people who can't all spend $50 I guess.. We're thinking equal % would be good if possible...

Circular polariser would be great amongst the photog people, but the other non photographers would be like "huh??"

And what is wrong with simply getting a $8 contribution from each participant?!
