Cotton Carrier?

I've got one for myself. Don't think he ever liked it...

Check out a Yongnuo flash, they're cheap and good.

Those do E-TTL?

Yeah, I knew you had one, but you said he does a lot of event photography, which I figured he'd be a good candidate for using a CC.

He's got a single camera and right now only a kit lens and 85mm 1.8 that's he's buying overseas on his own so nah. Prefers lightweight stuff I guess. it does kinda make you look goofy in front of 1600 other students (; goofy in a very comfortable way I must add.

Here is what you are going to get him.

One of these: http://photojojo.com …/keep-calm-snap-on-print/ (external link)

One of these: http://photojojo.com …ness/camera-laptop-decal/ (external link)

and use the left over money to get him a gift card. :) He'll be very happy.

Rain covers like Kata or Think Tank? Sensor cleaning stuff? Rubber camera armor?

To be honest, the best gift would probably be a gift cert. to B&H or something... I know it's not "fun" but he could get what he wants.

If you must know...

How about a Canon Speedlite 270EX. If he can't afford a larger flash, this one is at least better than the built-in flash. And the price is right at what you suggested.
