Nice shots!

My brother is currently thinking of switching from a D60 to a 7D but is concerned about the AF problems he keeps reading about. Being a mkIII owner I'm well aware of the issues people had with it but I know nothing about the 7D, is there any truth the 7D is having problems?

Some had problems with the cameras, some (me included) had problems with realizing how exactly to use the new characteristics of the 7D AF system correctly. Took some experiments/training to get the hang of it.

Well i can say i belonged to the group of people that delayed their purchase of the 7D because of all the negative comments about AF,High Noise at ISO 100,Image quality by 18mp on a crop sensor and so on on the Net.
Bought mine during Easter and once i digested the users guide and "fine Tuned " the AF for Sports or Stills i am more than happy with the Results and can only recommend the Camera who is interrested in buying one

I am still learning mine in some situations. I've created a 'cheat sheet' of settings for various shooting scenarios and keep it on my phone. At some point I won't need that cheat sheet. The 7D is a very powerful camera, and it takes time to learn how to control all the power that it has. It's definitely not one for those who like to " pickup, point, and shoot " out of the bag for any situation.

is there any truth the 7D is having problems?

I had lots of problems with my 7D when I first got it. It took me a few days to iron them out as they were all user problems, not really camera problems.

I spent a week going over the camera, the manual, and for me more importantly the many instructional videos on YouTube. One example, I immediately wanted to try shooting 1080p HD video, my first results were horrible. Video was choppy. I went to YouTube and found a guy telling how to set it up for video. So I sat down and set mine up as his instructed and VOILA! Man the results were AMAZING.

Mastering AI Servo? Well I looked to the guys who were getting great results at the race tracks and shooting birds in flight. What do you know? Their camera settings were different from those who were having issues.

I do know that I need to buy a lens with more reach. I have a 70-200mm f/4L, but I sure could used 400mm and maybe more.
